Welcome to EngHub, a collaborative platform where engineers, researchers, and students showcase projects and connect. Your privacy matters to us. This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control your data.
1) Information We Collect
- Account: username, name, email, and profile details (bio, skills, links, avatar).
- Content: projects and files you upload (e.g., CAD/FEA/CFD models, code, data, images), plus related metadata (filenames, sizes, timestamps), comments, likes, citations.
- Usage: device/browser info, IP address, access times, referrers, and interactions.
- Payments/Marketplace: transaction info via secure 3rd-party processors (we don’t store full card numbers).
2) How We Use Information
- Operate and improve EngHub features (login, uploads, search, collaboration).
- Display public profiles/projects as you intend; honor private project settings.
- Process subscriptions and marketplace transactions.
- Protect against fraud, abuse, and security risks; enforce our terms.
- Contact you about important changes, support issues, or product updates (you can opt out of promos).
3) Public Content & Visibility
Projects, profiles, and comments posted to public areas are visible to anyone. Private projects are only visible to owners and authorized collaborators. By posting public content, you grant us a limited license to host, display, and distribute it solely to operate EngHub.
4) Storage & Security
- Data is stored on secure cloud infrastructure and transmitted over HTTPS.
- Passwords are hashed; we apply access controls and regular backups.
- No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
5) When We Share Information
We don’t sell or rent your personal data. We share limited data with service providers (e.g., payment, hosting, analytics) to run EngHub, and with authorities if required by law.
6) Your Rights & Choices
- Update your profile anytime.
- Request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing us.
- If you delete your account, personal info is removed; public contributions may remain with attribution or be anonymized, as permitted by law.
7) Cookies & Similar Tech
We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and measure performance. You can disable cookies in your browser, but some features may stop working.
8) Children’s Privacy
EngHub is intended for users 16+ and not for children. If you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we’ll take appropriate action.
9) Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy. Changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date, and for major changes we’ll notify you by email or in-app.
